I am a Director of Development with Pepperdine's University Advancement office.  I work to support our students and help ensure them a quality education grounded in strong values. I invite you to support the Pepperdine community of students, faculty, staff and alumni and join us at university lectures, sporting events, art performances, and other university functions. I am an alumnus of Pepperdine's Seaver College, our undergraduate school, and an active member of the Malibu Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce. I work daily to bring together Malibu and surrounding cities with our students and university community in mutual support.

For over 20 years, James has been assisting families & home owners from Malibu to Santa Barbara to San Diego, earning a "first-call" basis with agents, architects, & attorneys, for his expertise. Ebert Appraisals have appraised or inspected over 500 significant historical & architectural homes, including, recently, Ray Kappe, FAIA's personal family home, Richard Neutra's VDL Home & Studio in Silverlake, and others by well-known architects such as Doug Burdge, Clive Dawson, Lester Tobias, Vitus Matare, Barsocchini & Associates, Amit Apel, Frank Gehry, Rudolf Schindler, John Lautner, John Lloyd Wright, & Steven Kent. 

James has been admitted to Superior Courts as an expert witness in dozens of legal cases, earning a stellar reputation. Ebert Appraisals works with top attorneys on estate, divorce, and valuation issues, while including his greater  knowledge within Real Estate Markets with his Realtor skills as well.

Main focus is helping Agents gain listings with Tax Deferred Solutions on sale of Real Est.  such as Structured Installment Sales on primary residence and DST/1031 (& 1033) tax deferral for investment property. These strategies help Agents counter objections such as " I don't want to sell because of high tax bill", etc.
